BBC Radio 1

Play upbeat music. Not extremely fast but quite fast paced music. Happy uplifting. The presenters start talking while the song is ending. The presenter says one sentence then lets the music finish. The presenter tells us the time and the day, then introduces the next segment, being the news and the presenter doing the news. While talking about the news, they have a quiet beat in the background, meaning they're trying to make the news more accessible for younger viewers, keeping the news quicker and more upbeat. When changing the topic, they have little sound clip to emphasize the change. When they change the news topic, they have a news like beeping sound. When changing the topic, they also change backgrounded beat. When coming back out the news, they have multiple sound clips overlapping. Different kinds of music and sound clips to bring us back from the news. The presenter welcomes us back and tells us about the next song to play. There are multiple sound clips, advertising the radio station and mixing the presenter's voice with the music. They have multiple small clips of songs that are coming up, then between songs, there's a pre-recorded clip of someone saying the radio's name with a distorted sound clip. When the presenter talks, it lowers the volume of the music. They have little segments with multiple presenters. They're slightly unprofessional and casual but it makes them seem more relatable. The presenters are quite young too. The music is pop music and the presenters are younger, it seems like it's aimed at a younger audience (late teens to 20s.) Some guests are pre-recorded.

News Team

I would want to be the Assistant Producer as a key role is to record news sound design not live. Pre-recording sounds means you can get it ready, and have things set for the live presenters. I wouldn't mind presenting the news too, as it's pre-recorded and there's no pressure of it being live. I wouldn't mind presenting too however live. Even though it's live, and you have one chance to make it right, with good planning it should go ok.

E) Market Share
In December 2017, Media.info (https://media.info/radio/stations/bbc-radio-cambridgeshire/listening-figures) found out that around 763,000 adults lived in the Cambridgeshire area. 91,000 of those adults listened to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire weekly. This means that the station had a market share of 5.6%. In December 2017, each listener averaged around 9.9 hours of listening time a week. These people only use up a small amount of their time to listen to the radio. The amount of weekly listeners, as of December 2017, is 91,000, which is an all-time low for the station. This information, combined with the total 895,000 hours listened to weekly (another low figure) tells us that the radio station is facing a gradual decline in listeners, especially when compared to their figures from July 2007, when the station had around 155,000 weekly listeners.
